Vincent Youmans has the unique distinction for being a rehearsal pianist for Victor Herbert’s operettas. He experienced early success on Tin Pan Alley and wrote a couple of successful shows like No, No Nanette. By 1933, Youmans found himself in Hollywood writing songs for films including the film that paired Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Unfortunately, his battle with tuberculosis and alcoholism led him to an untimely death at 48.
