Noël Coward wore many hats during his life. Born and raised in England you could say he was, a playwright of drawing room comedies, an actor, a singer, a pianist, a spy for England during WWII, a screenplay writer, an entertainer and all around bon vivant. And oh yes! He wrote BEAUTIFUL songs! He wrote both the music and lyrics for them. Sadly, his songs today are not performed much and do not have the recognition they deserve. He was a creator of unbridled wit and his songs are both sweet, tuneful and very clever. Perhaps his most famous song is “Mad About the Boy” which was famously performed by Marlene Dietrich.
