Many people feel anxious about their voice. Here are some common fears and ways to overcome them:
Fear of Judgment: It is natural to worry about how others perceive your voice. Remember that everyone is on their own journey. In a supportive lesson environment, you can practice without fear of ridicule. I tell all my students that lessons with me are a safe space.
Stage Fright: Many aspiring singers feel nervous about performing in front of others. Voice lessons can help with this by providing techniques to ease anxiety. And keep in mind that the best and most famous singers all talk about that more of fear when they first step on stage. It happens to everyone!
Perfectionism: The desire to be perfect can inhibit progress. Focus on improvement, not perfection. Regular practice will yield results over time.
A vital part of overcoming these fears is understanding that everyone, even the most seasoned performers, experiences uncertainty. Learning and growing happen through making mistakes and trying again and again and again.
