Songwriter Al Sherman was born into a musical family. In fact, his father was a court composer for Emperor Franz Josef. Fleeing Europe at a time of unrest, Al landed in New York and became one of the most successful songwriters on Tin Pan Alley. His songs were sung and recorded by the likes of Al Jolson, Maurice Chevalier, Bing Crosby and Cyndi Lauper! Yes! THAT Cyndi Lauper who recorded “Now’s the Time to Fall in Love”, “Pretending”, and “He’s So Unusual”. Still not clicking with you. He did a couple things that will immortalize him forever in Disney fans memories. He was the father of Richard and Robert Sherman. You know, the Sherman Brothers who wrote “It’s A Small World”.
